Scribner, Harvey Bert

Harvey was a well known educator. He taught at many schools before beginning his Superintendent's career at age 28! He was Superintendent at Eastport, ME, Wareham and Dedham, MA and Teaneck, NJ. While at Teaneck he was named the State Commissioner of Education for Vermont in 1967. He, is 1964, presided over the Board of Education to integrate black children into the white school of Teaneck. He was also a professor of Education and retired as chancellor of New York City's school system in 1972.

Harvey married Edgerly, Alta Evelyn in C 1950. Alta was born on 27 Dec 1919 in of Dark Harbor, ME; died on 19 Mar 1995; was buried in So. Princeton Cem., Princeton, ME. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
