- Edward was said to have gone to Seattle Washington in 1871 where his half-brother Andrew Ingraham had emigrated in 1849. He taught school, was principal and in 1883 was appointed Superintendent of the Seattle Public School System. When he retired in 1888 he entered into partnership wiht U. K. Coryell and established the printing house of Ingraham & Coryell. He was appointed to the position of Regent of the State Agricultural College and Shcool of Science for four years.
